Gilles Porte, AFC, and Samuel Lahu, his Assistant Cameraman, are currently shooting in Jordan. They have agreed to send us two images extracted from the daily photographic journal they are keeping during the shooting of the film 3000 Nights, directed by Mai Masri. Have a look at their second week of work.

I’ve suggested to Sam that we travel towards the South… I’ve heard that you can’t die before having seen Petra… It is 5 PM... I’ve just realized that the last few kilometres of road separating us from the lost city are headed due west… (Gilles, June Saturday 7)

Sam is running all over Amman to take HIS photo... I know he’ll choose just the right moment to take it... I’m waiting for the sun to set in order to take off my T-shirt and use the empty cans of (Jordanian) beer that Sam has left on the balcony to create this precarious construction project… (Gilles, June Friday 6)

Eléments de décor - Je repasse sur les décors du film, seul... Dans une cellule, certains détails orchestrés par Hussein, chef décorateur du film (rentré à Beyrouth), confèrent à cet instant quelque chose d'étrange. <i>(Gilles, jeudi 5 juin)</i>

I pore over the film’s sets, alone... In one of the cells, certain details that have been orchestrated by Hussein, the movie’s set designer (who has gone home to Beirut) are imparting a strange feeling. (Gilles, June Thursday 5)

Fatma, papier noir et crayon blanc - La ville de Zaatari, à 12 km de la frontière syrienne, compte actuellement le 2<sup class="typo_exposants">e</sup> plus grand camp de réfugiés au monde... Grâce à Gaëlle et Stéphanie, qui ont créé l'ONG <a href="https://www.facebook.com/day.daralyasmin" class="spip_out" rel="external">Dar Al Yasmin</a>, j'en profite pour prolonger une démarche avec des papiers noirs, des crayons blancs et un appareil photo... The town of Zaatari, 12km away from the Syrian border, is currently home to the 2d largest refugee camp in the world… It is thanks to Gaëlle and Stéphanie, the founders of the NGO known as “Dar Al Yasmin”, that this image was created from black paper, white pencils, and my camera… This is Fatma, Syrian refugee, 5 years old...
