The director of photography William Lubtchansky, AFC, has left us

[ English ] [ français ]

It is with immense sadness that we learned of the death of William Lubtchansky.
He was a great director of photography, a faithful companion of directors Jacques Rivette, Claude Lanzmann, Otar Iosseliani, Jean-Marie Straub and Danielle Huillet. He also crossed paths with Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut and Philippe Garrel.
For us in the AFC, he was not only a master cinematographer, but also a generous, touching, funny, amazingly human person.
He was one of the founders of our association, and his advice was always precious.
Our thoughts go to his wife Nicole, to Natasha and Irina, a fellow cinematographer, and to his grandchildren.
We already miss him.
The directors of photography of the AFC
