In 1991, while shooting J’embrasse pas (I Don’t Kiss), director André Téchiné falls in love with Super-8 images taken in some paratroopers’ barracks by the first assistant camera. Techiné has been entrusted with that footage by cinematographer Thierry Arbogast who is unable to finish the film.

En 1991, sur son film J’embrasse pas, le réalisateur André Téchiné avait beaucoup aimé les images en Super 8 tournées dans une caserne de parachutistes par la première assistante caméra. C’est le chef opérateur Thierry Arbogast qui, n’ayant pu terminer le film, lui en avait confié la responsabilité.

In 2017, the Ministry of Culture offered cinematographer Guillaume Schiffman to honor him by making him “Knight of the National Order of Merit.” Being offered that so-evocatively named reward pleased the man no end... but he never finished filling the proper documents and never went to fetch it.

Cette offre de récompense - au nom si évocateur - lui avait beaucoup plu mais il n’avait finalement pas rempli les papiers et n’était jamais allé la chercher.

Je me souviens de nos hésitations, avec Agnès, entre un boîtier Leica et nos téléphones portables, plus discrets, plus compacts, plus légers...

Tommaso a toujours été proche de l’AFC, il nous a fait découvrir les objectifs Leitz, que nous connaissions bien en photographie sous le nom de marque Leica mais qui restaient confidentiels dans la prise de vues cinématographique.
